Font. The Sourcebook

Teal Triggs asks Sibylle Hagmann in “Great Women Typographers: Where are They?” The interview published in the book titled Font. The Sourcebook is based on revisiting some of the issues which emerged from Linda Nochlin’s original feminist essay which asked “where are all the women artists?”.

Granshan 2008

The typeface family Odile won a grand prize in Latin Text awarded by the International Competition of Fonts, Granshan 2008, held in June 2008 on initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia. The Granshan competition was initiated to celebrate the introduction of Armenian symbols into the existing Unicode range of Armenian symbols.

EYE magazine, 67/spring issue

This EYE magazine issue is devoted to type and includes a multi-author type critique titled “Lust and Likeability”. Voices from opinionated and type informed writers were requested. The type family Odile was on the list of fonts to be scrutinized by Mark Thomson, Petra Cerne Oven, Deborah Littlejohn and Jan Middendorp. The font family was received positively, quoting Jan Middendorp: “Odile is a breath of fresh air.”

Metropolis magazine, March issue 2008

“Share Your Local Flavor!” Metropolis magazine, March issue, focuses on local flavor-design work and initiatives inspired by specific urban surroundings. Sibylle Hagmann was invited to typographically interpret her current city of residence in a way that expresses its local flavor. Few conditions were attached to this project, except the use of typefaces that were personally created.

IDEA magazine, Issue No. 327

The March issue of IDEA magazine includes a reprint of the article “Dwiggins Revisited Revisité” by Sibylle Hagmann. This essay was originally published in Typographische Monatsblätter—Revue Suisse de l’Imprimerie—Swiss Typographic Magazine. The Japanese IDEAmagazine republished the essay in a series of articles that focus on typeface and type design from past to present.

Most Beautiful Swiss Books

The font Odile Upright Italic was employed in the book Territoire Méditerranée designed by Mathieu Christe in collaboration with Zeina Maasri. Territoire Méditerranée was awarded the Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2005 by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture competition. Employed typefaces are recognized in the catalogue that features the awarded books.
