The Yearbook of Type II is an independent compendium of a selection of more than 180 typefaces. The book features type from small, independent, and larger foundries that has been released in the past three years from around the world. We are honored to be included in the Yearbook of Type II! Our contribution for this publication features Kopius, an upcoming new font family from Kontour.

Every type designer or font label is invited to contribute to this calender project with their latest typefaces for Typodarium 2016. It’s most exciting to be on the jury, together with Jean François Porchez, Zuzana Licko, Jonathan Barnbrook and Anil Aykan Barnbrook, and Prof. Johannes Bergerhausen, to select entries for 356 typographic days in 2016.

The World of Type Design — On the Shoulders of Giants reproduces the 20 articles on typography in IDEA magazine into a 530-page volume. Since late 1980s when postscript and Macintosh revolutionized all the typography design and its creative process, a lot of articles on digital fonts, new typefaces, historical studies, internet and other new technologies have appeared on IDEA. This book provides a perspective on what happened in typography in the past quarter century. Dwiggins Revisited, an article published by IDEA magazine in March 2008, issue No. 327 is included in Idea Document.

Neue Schriften.New Typefaces., a 260 page compendium published by Niggli and generated from the exhibition at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany, on show during the fall of 2013, is now available. It contains interviews of several contemporary type protagonists who talk about their work. Represented among others are André Baldinger, Verena Gerlach, Jakob Runge, and Andrea Tinnes among others. Axia is presented as “100% uniwidth”.

DesignThinkers, now in its 15th year and organized by the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), is Canada’s largest conference for visual communicators. It’s been a very inspiring event and a wonderful opportunity to share some thoughts on type design research and projects.
