Kontour Foundry Launch

Kontour Typefaces in Use at CAM, Raleigh

Odile and Elido are employed for signage and the gallery guide throughout the exhibition Deep Surface: Contemporary Ornament and Pattern at the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, NC. Co-curated by Denise Gonzales-Crisp and Susan Yelavich, the exhibit celebrates the renaissance of complexity and narrative form in contemporary design and features works from international designers and artists.

Rice School of Architecture

The Rice School of Architecture commissioned Kontour to design a custom typeface family for exclusive use on-line and for print collateral. The college’s new logotype, designed by Sibylle Hagmann, is derived from the RSA typefaces. Renamed Axia, this typeface family will be released in the near future. The logotype sequentially animates into shape on the school’s website designed by Paul Kremer.

Granshan 2008

The typeface family Odile won a grand prize in Latin Text awarded by the International Competition of Fonts, Granshan 2008, held in June 2008 on initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia. The Granshan competition was initiated to celebrate the introduction of Armenian symbols into the existing Unicode range of Armenian symbols.

Most Beautiful Swiss Books

The font Odile Upright Italic was employed in the book Territoire Méditerranée designed by Mathieu Christe in collaboration with Zeina Maasri. Territoire Méditerranée was awarded the Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2005 by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture competition. Employed typefaces are recognized in the catalogue that features the awarded books.

Swiss Federal Design Grant

The typeface family Odile received the Swiss Federal Design Awards 2006, “Selected—Awarded”, by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture. The awarded designs are presented in an accompanying catalog and an exhibition at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zürich, Switzerland, displays the selected works. The typeface family Odile was awarded before its public release and distribution.
