SGD Summer Lecture

Sibylle Hagmann was invited to lecture for SGD (Swiss Graphic Designers), a professional association in Switzerland. The lecture, held in beautiful Solothurn, reflected on the development of Axia, the font family in use by SGD for their very own branding.

VCFA Residency Guest

Sibylle Hagmann was invited as a guest designer and critic for the Fall 2017 residency at VCFA’s MFA in Graphic Design, together with Dr. Dori Tunstall and Randy Nakamura. An amazing few days filled with exchanging thoughts on design and typography with seasoned design educators and wonderful students.

RGD Design Thinkers

DesignThinkers, now in its 15th year and organized by the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), is Canada’s largest conference for visual communicators. It’s been a very inspiring event and a wonderful opportunity to share some thoughts on type design research and projects.

The Graphic Design and Films of Machine Project

Founder Mark Allen operates Machine Project as an artist collective that initiates shows that investigate art, technology, natural history, science, music, and literature in a Los Angeles storefront. Machine has produced over 1500 events, workshops and installations.  The Brandon, a Houston gallery, hosts the first retrospective of screen printed posters by CalArts and Otis MFA students announcing and documenting the happenings of the art collective. Sibylle Hagmann was invited to participate in an artist talk together with Mark Allen.

London Visits

Recent stops and talks have taken place at the University of Reading, LCC, and at the RCA. The distinguished archives and collections of the Reading Department of Typography & Graphic Communication surpassed all expectations, and, the fantastic views of London from RCA’s studio spaces are nonpareil.

Workshop at Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin, Strasbourg, France

After delivering a lecture at the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin, Sibylle Hagmann also had the pleasure of leading a workshop for the school’s Communication Graphique students at the invitation of faculty member Jérôme Saint-Loubert Bié.

Workshop Typoclub Bern, Switzerland

Sibylle Hagmann was invited by the Typoclub of the Bern University of the Arts to lecture and hold a workshop with students. Fellow designers and faculty members Mika Mischler, Hansjakob Fehr, and Christoph Stähli Weisbrod provided a wonderful environment to create amazing work. The last day of the workshop was further marked by the first snowfall of the season.

OTIS Lecture & Graduate Student Workshop

Sibylle Hagmann was invited to lecture at OTIS College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. The type design workshop with the graphic design graduate students was great fun, and everyone produced awesome modular type in a matter of days!
